At this time, both a Full Distribution and an Update Distribution are available for the 2008 public release. A new 2009 CPM Beta release is also available. The CPM Beta release only includes a new implementation of crash prediction models described in Chapters 10, 11 and 12 of the draft Highway Safety Manual. The other IHSDM evaluation modules (policy review, design consistency, traffic analysis and driver/vehicle) are not available in the CPM Beta release.

Full Distribution

A full distribution file includes all the files required to install IHSDM, including:

  • A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) from Sun Microsystems (version 1.6.0)
  • All IHSDM files required to run the Policy Review, Crash Prediction, Design Consistency, Intersection Review, and Traffic Analysis Modules
  • CHM and HTML-based documentation
  • Sample highway files
  • A GEOPAK-to-IHSDM data extractor, for use with GEOPAK 2001, 2000 and 98.

A full distribution is packaged as a single Windows installer archive. Once installed on your computer, the JRE and IHSDM files will require 300 MB of disk space.

Update Distribution

An update distribution file includes all the files required to upgrade from one minor version of IHSDM to another including:

  • All IHSDM files required to run the Policy Review, Crash Prediction, Design Consistency, Intersection Review, and Traffic Analysis Modules
  • CHM and HTML-based documentation
  • Sample highway files
  • A GEOPAK-to-IHSDM data extractor, for use with GEOPAK 2001, 2000 and 98.

The update distribution is packaged as a single Windows installer archive. Once installed on your computer, the JRE and IHSDM files will require 300 MB of disk space. This update distribution will only upgrade from IHSDM version 5.0.0 or 5.0.1 to version 5.0.2. If you have an early version of IHSDM, you will need a full distribution.

2009 CPM Beta Release

A 2009 CPM Beta distribution file includes all the files required to install the IHSDM 2009 CPM Beta release, including:

  • A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) from Sun Microsystems (version 1.6.0)
  • All IHSDM files required to run the new Crash Prediction Module (CPM). The new CPM has implemented the crash prediction models described in Chapters 10, 11 and 12 of the current draft of the Highway Safety Manual. This distribution does not have the other IHSDM evaluation modules (policy review, design consistency, traffic analysis and driver/vehicle).
  • CHM and HTML-based documentation
  • Sample highway files, including two-lane rural, multi-lane rural and urban/suburban arterial.
  • A GEOPAK-to-IHSDM data extractor, for use with GEOPAK 2001, 2000 and 98.
  • Release notes.

A CPM beta distribution is packaged as a single Windows installer archive. Once installed on your computer, the JRE and IHSDM files will require 300 MB of disk space.
